Mobile phone use at the wheel has been increasing over the last few years. The government introduced tougher punishments earlier this month in an attempt to discourage drivers from using their phones; however, many motorists are ignoring the law.
New legislation coming into force today will see drivers caught texting, calling or using an app while driving face a £200 on-the-spot fine and six points on their licence, the Daily Telegraph reports.
